Card-i-cature a week... Week 32 - Thabo Mbeki (the Five of Spades)

This week it's South African President Thabo Mbeki, who this week shocked AIDS/HIV campaigners across the world by sacking his Deputy Health Minister, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge. Madala-Routledge was responsible for the large-scale roll-out of antiretrovirals across South Africa, a scheme opposed by both Mbeki and her superior, Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, who favoured, amongst other things the use of the beetroot as a cure for AIDS. More here.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 31 - Chris Langham (the Six of Diamonds)

...and bringing us right up to date we have the 6 of diamonds with disgraced comic actor Chris Langham, star of TV's 'The Thick of It' and former writer for the Muppet Show, who this week was convicted of child porn offences, which he had been downloading for 'research' for a character.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 30 - JK Rowling (the Queen of Clubs)

No court cards for clubs, then two in a row, with multi-millionaire author JK Rowling appearing as the Queen of Clubs for the week ending 28th July. In this week the last Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows* was released, along with the release of the latest film in the franchise Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

*and no, I haven't read it. Nor do I intend to...**

**no, really. I read the first one, and wasn't terribly impressed.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 29 - Alastair Campbell

...and for the week ending 21st July we have Alastair Campbell, former Spin-Doctor-in-Chief, who published his diary from the Blair years this week.

(and yes, I probably should have put this under Hearts as he is somewhat of a political figure. My deck, my rules...)

Card-i-cature a week... Week 28 - Jacqui Smith

Well, I've been a bit remiss in posting cards recently, so here's a four week catch-up, starting with week ending 14th July and newly appointed Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who revealed this week she had smoked cannabis as a student at university.
