Week 32 - Thabo Mbeki (the Five of Spades) ![]() This week it's South African President Thabo Mbeki, who this week shocked AIDS/HIV campaigners across the world by sacking his Deputy Health Minister, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge. Madala-Routledge was responsible for the large-scale roll-out of antiretrovirals across South Africa, a scheme opposed by both Mbeki and her superior, Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, who favoured, amongst other things the use of the beetroot as a cure for AIDS. In this week the last Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows* was released, along with the release of the latest film in the franchise Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. *and no, I haven't read it. Nor do I intend to...** **no, really. I read the first one, and wasn't terribly impressed.
