Card-i-cature a week... Week 47 - Alastair Darling (the Ace of Hearts)

Hello Darling! This weeks card is the beleaguered Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alastair Darling, who this week was twice forced to apologise to Parliament, firstly for the Northern Rock fiasco, then the news that two computer discs containing the entire contents of the 25 million names on the Child Benefits database, representing every school-age child in the UK, had been lost in the post...

Card-i-cature a week... Week 38 - Menzies Campbell (the 2 of Hearts)

Week 38, and with the political conference season getting into swing, I present Lib Dem leader Menzies Campbell, who posed this week for a rather ill-advised photo of him pointing down a toilet...

Card-i-cature a week... Week 37 - Brendan Barber (the Five of Hearts)

A slightly delayed week 37, and as it was the week of the TUC Conference I give you General Secretary Brendan Barber, who failed in his attempt to put pressure on keynote speaker Gordon Brown to raise pay for public sector workers.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 28 - Jacqui Smith

Well, I've been a bit remiss in posting cards recently, so here's a four week catch-up, starting with week ending 14th July and newly appointed Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who revealed this week she had smoked cannabis as a student at university.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 26 - Harriet Harman (the Queen of Hearts)

Halfway there, and only my first Queen. Although Harriet Harman is apparently Queen of Labour party members' Hearts, having being elected Deputy Leader of the Labour party this week, her reward from new Prime Minister Gordon Brown was not Deputy PM, but, er, Leader of the House of Commons (with Minister for Women thrown into the bargain).

Card-i-cature a week... Week 21 - David Cameron

Week 21 - This week* Eton Educated Tory leader David Cameron announced that the Conservative party was to drop it's commitment to grammar schools, a move which upset a lot of the old guard...

* Ok, so this is a week late... been a bit busy, so I'm running behind, sorry.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 19 - Tony Blair (the King of Hearts)

Week 19, and the big news this week is the (shock! horror!) resignation of Prime Minister Tony Blair. Well, not yet, not until the end of June, but it's a start. Anyway, in honour of 10 years at Number 10, here's Tony now and then...

Card-i-cature a week... Week 13 - Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley (and Illustration Friday - Snap)

OK, slight change of my own rules this week - it's the 9 of Hearts, and it's Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley, after their hell-freezing-over-style meeting at Stormont earlier this week. Above is Ian Paisley, and below is Gerry Adams (or the other way around...)

p.s. I'm also putting this in for Illustration Friday this week. The theme is Snap, and, well, you can't pass up a card game theme...

You're an ace.

I like greenie at top. When brownie is up top, his expressive noggin tends to dominate the scene. This is very fun illustration. Really dig the card theme.

Card-i-cature a week... Week 12 - Gordon Brown (the Jack of Hearts)

Week 12 and still going strong. This week, it's my first court card - Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown - as the Jack of Hearts, for his budget this week. Not quite the King yet...

Card-i-cature a week... Week 9 - Charles Clarke (the 3 of Hearts)

This week's card is the Three of Hearts - for Charles Clarke, who, along with fellow former minister Alan Milburn, launched a campaign for another candidate for Labour leader following the departure of Tony Blair, but seen by many as an assault on leader-in-waiting (or so he thinks) Gordon Brown...

Card-i-cature a week... Week 4 - John Reid (and Illustration Friday - Red)

Well, this week it's the turn of John Reid, Home Secretary, who has been in the news a fair bit over a number of issues in the last few weeks.

Also, and a bit of a cheat really, this is my 'Illustration Friday' entry, the theme this week being Red (referring, of course, to the Hearts suit in the deck). For those of you coming to my site from Illustration Friday, I'd suggest you have a quick look at this page for more details of my 'Card-i-cature a week' project.
